Clanton student selected sorority president

Tiffany Dy was selected to be the 2009 Chi Omega sorority president at Birmingham-Southern College.

Dy is a sophomore majoring in biology from Clanton. She is the daughter of Ritky and Teresita Dy.

Connell selected for AUM honor society

Hollie (Bates) Connell was recently invited to membership in the Auburn University at Montgomery chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Pi, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious all-discipline honor society.

To receive this invitation, Connell was required to have an academic ranking among the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students of all academic disciplines at AUM.

She will be performing her internship at Verbena School January-April 2009 and will be graduating from AUM with a degree in early childhood education in May 2009

Jemison student to receive graduate degree

JACKSONVILLE – Six hundred eighty-six candidates will cross the stage at Paul Snow Stadium today, Dec. 19, to receive their degrees from Jacksonville State University during the 2008 Fall Commencement.

Of those graduates, Wanda Hayes of Jemison will receive a graduate degree during the ceremony today.

The faculty will lead the processional into Paul Snow Stadium, where the candidates will be announced individually, photographed, and presented with a JSU diploma while crossing the stage. University President Dr. William A. Meehan will confer the degrees as well as give the commencement address.

The ceremony will be televised live via WJXS-TV24 and broadcast regionally on several cable companies.
