Thorsby exploded for 12 points in the final period on Wednesday to turn a 1-point deficit after three quarters into a 26-19 win in its last game of the season.

Jessica Jackson scored all four of her points in the fourth quarter for the Rebels, and Sharonda Cooper also dropped in four of her game-high 10 points in the frame.

The hosts led for most of the first half because of strong defensive effort and Jemison misfires from point-blank range. The Panthers, in fact, couldn’t muster a field goal in the first period. Aly Childress ended the drought seconds into the second quarter, and the visitors took the lead with 35 seconds remaining in the first half when Cookie Agee stole the ball on the defensive end and finished with a lay-up going the other way.

Agee and Shelby Lopez led Jemison with five points each, and Hallie Amos had four points.

Thorsby opened the second half on a 7-0 run and wouldn’t give up the lead again but only led 15-14 at the end of the third quarter.

Thorsby took the lead for good on a Celia Harris basket, and Cooper put the game away with a jumper with 24 seconds left.

Harris finished with eight points, and Haley Barnett had four.
