“A Psalm of David. Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire. The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory. The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever. The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace” (Psalm 29:1-11).

Thought for the week: “The Wings of Faith”

May the wings of faith uphold you when your cross is hard to bear, as temptations surround you and no one seems to care. May the wings of faith surround you and shield you from the pain when sorrows overcome you and teardrops fall like rain. May you know that God is with you in times of deep despair. May the Spirit, who’s within you, confirm that He is there! May the valley of the shadow provide angels unaware…may the wings of faith uphold you when your cross is hard to bear.”

Announcements

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Maplesville will celebrate its annual praise, worship and everybody’s birthday tomorrow at 4 p.m. The Rev. L.C. Young is pastor. Everyone is invited to attend.

Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with songs, scripture and prayers led by the praise team. Songs included, “It’s In Jesus,” “On Time God” and “God is Victory.” The scripture was read by Steven Nunn with prayer by Pastor Dukes and Willis Nunn.

The morning message was given by Pastor Dukes. His theme was “A Change Must Come to Serve the Lord.” What’s next after you see Jesus? What is your personal relationship with Christ? Attending church and being nice doesn’t meant you have a personal relationship with Christ. The devil attends church and knows how to achieve.

Jesus stopped on the road to Jericho and stood still. If you call him, he will stop for you. He will open your eyes so you can see him and follow him. You are a child of God; why don’t you live like it?

Will the folk and your condition prevent you from seeing Jesus? Get ahead of the crowd and above your condition and go out on a limb to see Jesus; wait to see Jesus. You must receive Jesus by allowing him access to your life. If he goes home with you, he will see who you really are. You can’t fix yourself; let him in. His blood can clean you up. Resist folks — don’t be afraid of what they say.

You need Jesus; don’t turn him away. When Jesus goes home with you, a change will take place. If you were a taker, you will become a giver. A complete change will occur.

The benediction and remarks were given by Pastor Dukes.

On our sick list this week we ask you to remember in your prayers: Ethel Smith, Joseph McCall, Dora Archie, Sam and Vivian Hicks, Queen Worthey, Luther Lee, Melvin Melton, Lee Anna Worthey, Mae Bell Brown and Beverly Varner. May God heal, strengthen and keep them in his care is our prayer.
