MAPLESVILLE — Police are investigating what caused a log truck to crash on Highway 82 Friday around lunchtime.

At 11:50 a.m. Friday, a 1994 Mack Truck crashed just outside of Maplesville Town Limits on the state highway. No other vehicle was involved in the crash.

Logs spilled all over the roadway, causing the road to be shut down for almost two hours. The crash was completely cleared up after 2 p.m.

Chilton County Emergency Management Agency director Bill Collum said there was a minor oil spill in addition to the logs that were on the road.

“The spill wasn’t the bad compared to the logs on the road,” Collum said.

The driver of the truck was injured in the crash and was transported to the hospital. Collum didn’t think the driver was seriously injured in the crash.

Maplesville Police assisted with traffic control while state troopers investigate the crash.
