BIRMINGHAM – Prattville’s Brian Egan kicked a 33-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter to give the Lions their third straight Class 6A title with a 16-13 win over Hoover.

Egan’s kick with 2:47 remaining capped a six-play, 15-yard drive on Saturday.

Hoover had a chance to tie the game with a 32-yard field goal as time expired. But Dylan Breeding’s kick sailed wide left.

Egan also kicked field goals of 41 and 39 yards.

Prattville’s lone touchdown came on a 74-yard interception return by Nick Perry.

In the Class 2A game, Leroy blew open a close contest with four touchdowns in the fourth quarter – three off turnovers – to beat Sulligent 41-8 Saturday for its third straight championship.

MVP Clint Moseley threw for a record 272 yards and two touchdowns, and Michael Bracy had two touchdowns on short runs as Leroy extended the state’s longest winning streak to 25 games.

“It was a great football game,” said Leroy coach Danny Powell. “Our defense played tremendous all day and turned the momentum in our favor in the second half.”
