CCA girls, boys fall short in tournament

In the girls championship game of the Patriot Invitational on Saturday, Freedom Life Christian Academy came back from a 12-point deficit in the last 2 minutes, stole the ball with 6 seconds left, and hit a buzzer-beater to defeat Brooklane Baptist Academy, 42-40.

In the third-place game, Chilton Christian Academy (2-5) fell to Cahawba Christian Academy, 66-58, as the Chargers hit 14 three-pointers.

CCA’s Summer Hall had a career-high 27 points, earning her a spot on the all-tournament team. Greda Brock added 23 points in the post. Cahawba’s Christina Allen had 34 points, with 18 coming on three’s.

In the boys championship game, CCA lost to Freedom Life boys 57-32.

CCA’s Zac Pierce had 13 points, earning himself a spot on the all-tournament team.

CCA’s Tim Harris (7 points) was also chosen for the all-tournament team.

Freedom Life’s Brian Whitlow, the tournament Most Valuable Player, scored 17 points, and Daniel Ritchie scored 15 points.
