Tenaska Alabama Partners, L.P., owner of Tenaska Lindsay Hill Generating Station, will sponsor $8,000 in scholarships for college-bound seniors in Autauga County high schools again this year.

The scholarships are open to seniors graduating in spring 2009 from the four school districts in Autauga County. Applications can be obtained from Autauga County high school guidance counselors and must be completed no later than Feb. 2, 2009. Tenaska will fund the scholarship awards: $2,000 to each county high school awarded in amounts of $500 or $1,000.

Tenaska has awarded 86 scholarships totaling $64,000 to Autauga County students since 2001.

“We are proud of our ongoing partnership with the Autauga County school system and the opportunity to support outstanding students in their academic goals,” said Robert Threlkeld, plant manager for the Tenaska Lindsay Hill Generating Station. “Education provides opportunity for our youth and promise for the future of Autauga County.”

Tenaska headquarters officials will select the college-bound seniors to receive the scholarships. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate that they are prepared for college study, have good character and rank in the top half of their class.

Fueled by clean-burning natural gas, the Tenaska Lindsay Hill Generating Station generates 845 megawatts of electricity for sale to BE Alabama LLC, which markets the power in the region.
