Chilton Christian Academy’s girls team on Friday squandered a 12-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and fell to Brooklane, 35-30.

The loss knocks host CCA out of contention for the championship of the Patriot Invitational tournament.

The Patriots (2-4) at 9 a.m. today will face Cahawba Christian Academy, who fell to Freedom Life by a 51-38 score, for third place in the tournament.

Brooklane will play Freedom Life at noon for the girls championship.

On Friday, Summer Hall converted on an acrobatic drive to the basket for two of her game-high 14 points to give CCA a seven-point edge at the end of one period.

But Chilton could only score one point in the second quarter, Brooklane (6-2) took the lead by halftime, 15-13, and was able to hold on for the win because of turnovers and poor foul shooting from the Patriots.

Greda Brock added 11 points for Chilton.

Kelsie Harter had 13 points for the Eagles, and Brittany Hayes was good for 11.
