The time of year for holiday cheer is here. That means it’s also time to keep an extra jacket in the car. Over the coming weeks, many outdoor events have been planned for holiday celebration including tree lightings and parades. For these events you may want to make sure that you are properly prepared.

Of course at many of these events, there will be places that you can get hot chocolate and maybe coffee to help keep you warm, but there is a good chance that if you don’t have a big coat then you wont be enjoying the festivities.

After the rain yesterday the plummet in temperature was a good reminder that the winter months are coming. Temperatures at night will be falling close to freezing.

Most of the holiday events for this weekend are scheduled for after dark, meaning the temperature will be very cold with no sun to warm up the air. It might not be a bad idea to throw an extra jacket, gloves or maybe even a hat to help keep you warm through your celebrating.

Visiting events like the local tree lightings and parades should not be your only reason for keeping extra winter gear in the car. Just making your normal rounds during the day may start to become a challenge without the proper clothing.

Hunters should also remember the extra layers while they are laying out in the woods or sitting in their tree stands. The cold can be unnoticeable. If you get too cold then you are increasing your chances of becoming sick. Nobody wants to be sick and miss out on family events.

Be prepared to keep out the cold and keep colds away for this winter.
