People delivering warmth

After a long day at work coming home and cooking a meal is the last thing on some peoples minds. When your up all day trying to get chores done or when you work a long shift at your job and you don’t feel like coming home and cooking then you can often find another way of getting food. A drive through or maybe something from your freezer will do?

There are some who don’t have this luxury decision to make. When you are chair or bed bound and just walking to the bath room makes you exhausted the last thing you can think about is getting up and making dinner or driving to a drive through for dinner.

For many elderly people a hot meal is hard to come by and it is groups like Homebound meals that help to make sure they are taken care of.

Homebound meal deliverer Sandy Madsen said she couldn’t think of an elderly person not having something warm to eat and good company to talk to.

“I have been doing this for a long time and I have come to love many of the people that I visit with homebound meals. So many of them are just happy to get to have someone to talk to,” Madsen said.

Homebound meals has been helping people for years but with current economic status they have not been able to help as many patients. Meal delivery people like Madsen are working to help make sure these people have a hot meal even if they take them something home cooked.

Although some of the elderly on the program can still get around a little there are some who can’t move at all without help and these meals and short visits can really brighten their day.
