Like the other municipalities in Chilton County, the City of Jemison wants to make the Christmas season special for its residents.

The city’s second annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is set for Friday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. in the middle of town. You just can’t miss the 30-foot Christmas tree when it towers over the buildings along Highway 31.

City Council member Faye King wants people to help decorate the tree this year.

“I am encouraging people to bring a personal ornament to hang on the tree in memory of or in tribute to a loved one,” she said. “They can bring the ornaments to the lighting ceremony or to Jemison City Hall to have them hung on the city’s tree.”

The lighting ceremony will also include live entertainment and refreshments.

Of course, you can’t have Christmas without a Christmas parade. This year, Jemison will continue this annual tradition on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m.

Those planning to march or drive their vehicle in the parade should arrive at Jemison High School by 1 p.m. to line up.

The parade will likely follow the same route as last year.
