With an 11-0 and No. 1-ranked team, optimism would be expected at the Chilton County Chapter of the University of Alabama Alumni Association’s Beat Auburn pep rally on Tuesday.

But, despite a sub-par season from its team so far, there was no shortage of boastful predictions from the Chilton County Auburn Club’s Beat ‘Bama party at the Alabama Power Conference Center.

“Auburn is going to win,” Auburn Club member Charles Bates said. “Hate to burst their little bubbles.”

The sentiment seemed unanimous, with fellow club members picking their Tigers to extend the winning streak over their rivals to seven games.

Mike Cooper foresaw a 17-10 decision in favor of Auburn. Dale Lenoir liked a 24-6 score, though he declined to say which team it would favor.

Both events featured lots of food and entertainment for children. Alabama mascot Big Al even made an appearance at the Beat Auburn rally, which was held at the Clanton Elementary School lunchroom.

Crimson Tide fans felt their team would be able to score a few more points. Tyson Elrod predicted a 35-17 score, and Phillip Price expressed a similar outlook, picking Alabama in a 31-10 decision.

“If Alabama can continue to do what they’ve been doing, Alabama will win,” Price said. “I think the fans are hungry.”
