Today is the first meeting date for the newly elected Chilton County Commission. As expected, we have a mixture of old and new faces behind the podium.

We hope the veterans will make the transition easy while the new commissioners bring fresh ideas to the group. Because neither Democrats nor Republicans have a majority representation on the commission, it will be interesting to keep up with voting patterns. At the same time, we hope commissioners can be unanimous on most decisions.

You could argue that this commission has the most difficult year ahead of them in terms of budgeting and meeting the county’s ever-growing demands. And they will need as much support as possible.
