MAPLESVILLE – The Maplesville Town Council held their last Monday night meeting last night with Kurt Wallace taking his seat as mayor.

The Maplesville Fire Department proposed purchasing a fire truck and equipment with a grant, which was approved by the council pending the town’s ability to aid in the purchase of the new vehicle.

The council also approved the Police Department to purchase their new car as well as the equipment to place it out on the streets.

“We want the car to be done fully so that we can have it out on the street where it is being used instead of it just sitting at the office waiting on parts to be put on it,” Mayor Wallace said.

In other business the council:

Approved their audit/new budget.

Approved two new reserves applications for the police department, Logan Lovelady and Thomas Kaufman

Approved Nov. 30 as the day to hold their annual tree lighting/parade.

Approved a new safety committee.

Approved Sandy Madsen to receive two hours pay at $10.61 an hour for homebound meals.

Approved a 90-day extension of William Hayes probation.
