There are many things in our lives that we end up having to do when we really don’t have the time or want to do them.

One thing that I recently was called to do was jury duty. Of course, this is something that is a duty for our county that we as citizens can do to help in upholding the laws that we are forced to live by every day.

This duty, however important, can be quite an annoyance. You have to miss work or you may have to find a babysitter if you are not a working mom, and then you have to spend the whole day in a courtroom either waiting to see if you are going to be on the jury or not or serving on the jury for another one to two days as you have to listen to cases and decided whether a person is guilty or not.

As much as I love to go home at night and watch court, cold case files and crime shows, I really don’t think that I would enjoy having to sit there in person listening to all of the evidence and trying to figure out if that person was guilty or not.

If I had to help, then I would like to get out there and find the evidence and do the research. If I have to be held responsible for putting somebody in jail, then I want to be the one who is 100 percent sure that he or she is guilty of the crime they are being accused of.

Of course, I was not picked to serve on someone’s jury, but I still had to go through the process of being eliminated and I would have to say that took a long enough time.

If picked, I would have proudly stepped up to the plate and made the best decision that I could for the case I was hearing. I can admit, though, that I am glad I am not having to serve on a jury.
