A French philosopher was quoted as saying, “Liberty consists in the ability to choose.” If you want to exercise your liberty today, then you should go to the polls. We should thank God that we have the right to choose who our leadership is going to be every few years while other countries don’t have that right.

If you like the leadership that’s in charge, then you can keep voting for them. If you don’t, then you can vote them out of office. The system has worked for more than 200 years. Our founding founders wanted to create a “more perfect union.” While it is better than the Articles of the Confederation, it still has its flaws, but it is difficult to find a better system of government than what we have here in America.

There hasn’t been a government more stable over the last two centuries than ours. Yes, we did have a Civil War, but the country did come back together. Changes were made to the Constitution by adding amendments, and voters elected new leaders to reflect those changes.

The only way our government works well is when voters who are informed about the issues go to the polls and vote based on that knowledge. We can’t have a small percentage of people doing this. There must be a large number of people doing this if we want to see our country change.

This might be the last minute, but there is still time to learn about the candidates before you go to the polls today. Take a few minutes. Check into our candidates and amendments. See what is the best decision to make. Then take your ballot and help change America for the better.

If we don’t take the time to choose who we want, then we will just have to put up with the decisions of others.
