The Lamar County Bulldogs were too much for the Isabella Mustangs Friday night, defeating the Mustangs 43-19.

One dog in particular — this one not a Bulldog — ran onto the playing field not once but twice, causing short delays in the fourth quarter. Fortunately, both incidents were resolved peacefully.

Rewind to the first quarter, when the Bulldogs got an early start racking up two touchdowns. Isabella’s Brian Donovan responded in the second with a 40-yard touchdown run, but the extra point attempt was no good.

Lamar County answered quickly on a short touchdown by Lance Bobbitt, and forced Isabella to punt on their next drive.

With 1:43 left in the half, Lamar’s Keith Myles scored from 11 yards out, and quarterback Michael Bradford found Ladarius Granville for a 2-point conversion.

With just 24 seconds left, the Bradford-Granville duo connected for a 48-yard touchdown, and Bradford ran it in for 2 more points, making the score 36-6 at intermission.

The third quarter saw turnovers on both sides but ended up scoreless.

In the fourth, the Mustangs’ Brandon Veazey completed a 22-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Green. Then, Bradford struck again for the Bulldogs, this time from 12 yards out.

With 19 seconds left, Austin Haigler scored a 5-yard touchdown run, but it was not enough.
