Two weeks ago, there were 10 vehicle burglaries reported in Jemison. The Jemison Police Department has just confirmed that there have now been two other car burglaries along U.S. Highway 31 that have been similar in nature to the other burglaries, which took place at Jemison High School.

The police received tips of a location where items stolen during these burglaries were being kept. At that time, Jemison Police and the Chilton County Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force worked together to recover some of the stolen property.

During their investigation, the Jemison Police and the task force recovered a meth lab at a residence on County Road 636 where Steven Brown, 30, of Clanton and Chad Campbell, 20, of Clanton were arrested.

Both suspects were charged with trafficking, manufacturing of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“A lot of our stolen property gets traded for drugs. We are going to keep actively pursuing leads and knocking on doors. It just so happened that one of the doors we knocked on had a meth lab behind it,” Chief Brian Stilwell said.

Stilwell said every case they are given is important to them, and anyone who has information should call.
