9 arrested in month-long case

After a month of surveillance and good tips the Chilton County Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force made four large raids bringing in a total of nine arrests.

Task Force Commander Charlie Sanders said that the team’s investigations paid off since they were able to get the dealers off of the street.

“Sometimes it takes a while to set up surveillance and to get good tips but in this case we were given good information and the outcome was the arrests of nine people,” he said.

The suspects were located in different areas over Chilton County and are now facing multiple charges for their actions. Sanders was the leading officer in six of the nine arrest including:

Elizabeth Hamilton Mahan, 24 of Fairhope was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is currently out of jail on a $5,750 bond.

Robert Anthony Easterling, 24 of Clanton was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently at the Chilton County Jail

James Harold Connell, 27 of Clanton was arrested and charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance. He is currently out on a bond of $10,000.

Teddy Lawayne Connell, 39 of Clanton was arrested and charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance. He is currently out on a bond of $10,000.

Kristina Aline McDaniel, 35 of Verbena was arrested and charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance. She is currently out on a bond of $10,000.

One juvenile female was also taken into custody during the raids.

Agent Jeff Manasco also made three of the nine arrests. He brought in:

James Howard Watts, 62 of Marbury was arrested and charged with two counts of distributing a controlled substance. He is currently in the Chilton County Jail.

Tina Leann Hope, 27 of Jemison was arrested and charged with two counts of distributing a controlled substance. She is currently in the Chilton County Jail.

Douglas Arthur Simon, 46 of Jemison was also arrested and charged with two counts of distributing a controlled substance. He is currently in the Chilton County Jail.

The Task Force was set up to find and eliminate the source of drugs and violence in Chilton County and busts like these show just how hard they are working to keep the citizens safe. These cases are all still pending and more charges can be faced by some individuals after lab results are returned to the office from testing.
