Members of the Class of 1944 were in attendance for the Chilton County High School homecoming. This was their 64-year reunion. There were 52 members of the graduating class, 36 have survived and 16 were in attendance. The meeting, which was held at Friendship Baptist Fellowship Hall on Friday, was filled with hugs, handshakes and varied conversations for sharing memories.

Those in attendance were: Lucille Littleton (Foshee), Joe Williams, Opal Thomas (Acton), Harold Littlejohn, Eleanor Smith, Kenneth Smith, Robert Yeargan, Dorothy Blankenship (Messer), Edna Earl Smitherman (Engle), Pauline Little (Plott), Martha Jean Bialas (Stewart), James Foshee (Sie), Juanita Hayes (Newell), Bobbie Nell Crowe (Culpepper), James Hodges, Warren Herring (Wingard) – 16 class members and 11 spouses/guests.

After the fellowship hour, sharing photos and stories of events, a delightful catered lunch was served, planned and coordinated by Pauline (Plott) Little.

Martha (Stewart) Bialas, assisted by Jim “Sie” Foshee, conducted the memorial service honoring the departed classmates. Each departed member was recognized.

A separate Memorial Candelabra was lit for the five members departed since the last meeting.

Friendship, trust and loyalty, 64 years and still functioning. What a legacy for current graduates and friends to strive for in these turbulent times.
