Joseph “Joe” Delores Melgosa, 72, of Jemison died Friday, Oct. 17, at UAB Palliative Care in Birmingham.
He was born Monday, July 6, 1936 in Illinois, son of the late Valeriana Melgosa and the late Alvina Salceda Melgosa. He was an electrician.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bettie W. Melgosa of Jemison; three daughters, Sally Jo Ferguson of Tampa, Fla., Brenda Lee Reagan of Zephyrhlla, Fla., and Sandra Eileen Mendoza of Grand Island, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Teresa Melgosa of Batvia, Ill.; sister, Ramona “Mona” Nelson of Batvia, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Chemes, and brother, Robert Melgosa.
Friends will be received today, Oct. 19, from 5-8 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church in Jemison. Services will be held Monday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison.
