Mustangs spoil senior night

Isabella on Monday night fought back from a 7-2 deficit early in Game 1 to sweep Billingsley, 25-22, 25-16, 25-11.

The Bears (6-8), playing inspired volleyball in the last home match for the team’s seniors, took an early lead on the strength of two Lucretia Love kills and one Love block.

But the Mustangs (22-4) rallied to tie the game at 17, won it on one of Carissa Eiland’s nine kills and cruised the rest of the match.

Both Eiland and Krysta Tyler aced Billingsley six times. Tyler also had 17 assists.

Amber Wyatt posted a match-high 15 kills.

Regular junior varsity players Jessica Maciel (11 digs and five aces) and Allison Mims (five aces) made significant contributions for the visitors.

Ruby Fernandez led the Isabella defensive effort with six digs.

Lucretia Love had three kills and four blocks for the hosts, and teammate Crystal Motley added three blocks and two kills.

Jaime Williams had five digs, and Halie Taylor was good for three digs and two aces.
