Chilton County High on Friday night won its first game of the season – and in impressive fashion with a 38-7 decision over Monroe County High.

The Tigers (1-5, 1-2 region) scored early and often and held the visiting Tigers (1-5, 0-4) scoreless until a 3-yard run by Darryl McMillian with 4:13 left in the game.

The contest was well in hand by that point, CCHS having scored at least one touchdown in each of the first three quarters.

Chilton marched 69 yards on its first possession, which was capped off by a 30-yard Gheryme Reed touchdown run.

James Boswell scored on a 4-yard run later in the first quarter, and quarterback Taylor Hughes snuck in from 1-yard out four minutes into the second frame to put his team up three scores.

Patrick Norman, who was good on all of CCHS’s point-after attempts and punted four times at a 47-yard average, kicked a 23-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to give the hosts a 31-0 lead.

In the third quarter, the Tigers scored on a 19-yard pass from Hughes to Marcus Harris.

CCHS had 18 first downs to Monroe County High’s 11 and outgained the visitors 366 yards to 185.
