The Akron Rams walked right into a Bear trap Friday night as Billingsley captured a 56-12 homecoming win.

The Rams scored first on their first drive, but Billingsley’s Robert Speer answered promptly with a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

A recovered fumble allowed Tim Simon to score a 4-yard touchdown, and the ensuing kick made the score 14-6 in the first quarter.

Simon returned in the second with an 11-yard touchdown run. Then, with 6:48 left in the half, Matt Paulene scored a short touchdown capped off by Jamar Hopson’s 2-point conversion.

Akron scored on the last play of the half to make it 29-12.

After homecoming festivities, Billingsley’s Mario Reese contributed a 17-yard touchdown and conversion.

Another recovered fumble set up a 21-yard touchdown run by Lemitress Sheppard. The kick was blocked, making the score 43-12 with one quarter left to play.

A Donte Vinson interception set up a 97-yard touchdown run by Hopson, and with 4:29 left to play, Reese found Speer in the end zone for another 6 points.
