Chilton County and a large percentage of Alabama has now been classified in a moderate drought according to the latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor.

This is because the county hasn’t had a good rain in more than three weeks.

More than 52 percent of the state is now in a moderate drought. All but seven percent of the state is at least abnormally dry. A small sliver of the eastern portion of the state is experiencing a severe drought.

The extreme southwestern part of the state is the only area not experiencing dry weather.
