Tigers top Thorsby, fall to Shelby Co.

Shelby County High on Tuesday night visited Chilton County and was a rude guest.

The Wildcats (13-14) defeated both host Chilton County High (25-18, 17-25, 15-8) and Thorsby (25-16).

CCHS defeated Thorsby in the other tri-match tilt, 25-16, 25-23.

The Rebels (5-22) built a 15-8 lead in Game 2 of the match, but the Tigers (15-8) scored 15 of the next 20 points.

Vernice Trimble had a team-high five kills on the night for Chilton, and teammate Tylita Harrell had four kills to go along with three aces and two digs.

Clarissa Galvan chipped in two kills, and Quantisha Streety had two aces.

Brittany Maddox posted eight kills, seven digs, two aces and two blocks for Thorsby.

Michelle Hendrix was good for 12 assists and four digs, and Kendra Dawson had eight digs.

Holly Smith recorded four assists and four aces.

The Thorsby junior varsity team picked up its first regular season win of the season with a 27-25, 9-25, 15-11 decision over CCHS.
