CCHS can’t stop Tallassee’s rushing attack

TALLASSEE – Chilton County High School’s Tigers lost the Cat fight to the Tallassee High School Tigers in Tallassee last night, 45-27.

Taylor Hughes and the Tiger offense produced 335 yards of offense (102 rushing and 233 passing). Tallassee rushed for 348 yards and passed for 41 yards.

Tallassee jumped out to a 21-0 lead on a 11-yard run by Corey Hutchinson, Mike Smith’s three yard touchdown and Quashawn Jones’s 75-yard touchdown run with a CCHS fumble at the outset of the second quarter.

With 10:49 left in the half. Hughes passed to Darnell Spear who ran 98 yards for CCHS’s second touchdown in the half. Clanton tied the score, 21-all, on a five-yard run by James Boswell with 1:22 left in the half. Patrick Norman kicked all three extra points for the Tigers.

Tallassee broke the tie in the third quarter on a five-yard Smith run. Tray Cochran-Gill scored again for Tallassee on a five-yard run in the third quarter. Smith ran 53 yards on the first play of the fourth quarter to score and Hunter Mullins added a field goal to end scoring at 45 for Tallassee.

Chilton County’s last score came with 1:59 to play on a toss sweep to Chris Felder.

The Tiger defense stopped Tallassee twice with interceptions and the Tigers’ kicking team claimed an onsides kick on the second half kickoff.
