THORSBY – Several side roads will be closed for a short time today due to Thorsby’s homecoming parade.

The parade will begin at 1:50 p.m. at the football field and travel down Jones Street and turn right onto Alabama Avenue. The procession will continue in front of the stores, across Concordia Street and end back in the high school’s parking lot.

Then, they will have a pep rally following the parade.

Police Chief Ed Prady said the parade will not cross the railroad tracks and get on Highway 31. The only major road it will affect is Concordia Street (County Road 50), but Prady said he doesn’t think it will be a major delay.

“It probably won’t take more than five or six minutes for the parade to cross the road,” Prady said. “You can go around on Franklin Street and come down by the park unless you want to watch the parade. It shouldn’t cause any major traffic problems.”

Thorsby will play Horseshoe Bend for its homecoming tonight. Kickoff starts at 7 p.m.
