Scott, Hamilton, James win SEC weekly awards

BIRMINGHAM – LSU tailback Charles Scott was the SEC offensive player of the week. Vanderbilt safety Ryan Hamilton won defensive honors Monday and Florida return man Brandon James was the top special teams performer.

Scott rushed for 132 yards in LSU’s 26-21 win at Auburn. He is the first LSU player since Charles Alexander in 1978 to have three straight 100-yard rushing performances.

Hamilton had three interceptions, a fumble recovery and a goal line fourth-down stop in Vanderbilt’s 23-17 win at Ole Miss.

James returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown in the Gators’ win at Tennessee.

The offensive lineman of the week was Alabama’s Andre Smith. Ole Miss tackle Peria Jerry won defensive line honors. Georgia receiver A.J. Green was freshman of the week.
