Friday, Sept. 26 is the last day citizens can register to vote or update their voter registration forms prior to the city runoff elections, the Chilton County Board of Registrars reported.

That deadline is determined by the Secretary of State’s Office, said Board chairman Bill Popwell.

The date of the runoff elections is Tuesday, Oct. 7. Only Clanton and Thorsby will be holding runoffs.

Thorsby’s runoff is between Incumbent Mayor Tom Bentley and Dearl Hilyer. There are a total 1,184 registered voters in the town.

In Clanton, runoffs will be held in Ward 1 between Jeffrey Price and incumbent Ronnie Porter, and in Ward 4 between Greg DeJarnett and Bill Trimble.

There are 1,537 registered voters in Ward 1 and 916 registered voters in Ward 4, the Board of Registrars reported.
