CCHS picks up wins over Thorsby, Vincent

Chilton County High on Tuesday night won its third and fourth in a row with a sweep of a tri-match with Thorsby and Vincent.

The Tigers (6-4) topped Thorsby 25-9, 25-27, 15-10 and defeated Vincent 25-20, 25-16.

Thorsby edged Vincent 25-15, 25-20 in the night’s other varsity match.

Haley Smith had five aces for the Rebels (4-10) in that match. Brittany Maddox added three kills and one dig, and Keri Whitman had three aces and one save.

Whitman tallied three more aces in the match against CCHS. Teammate Michelle Hendrix had two assists and three aces in that one.

Tylita Harrell was the hosts’ statistical leader. Harrell posted six kills, three aces and three digs in the first match. Vernice Trimble added four kills.

Lauren Stewart had two aces against the Yellow Jackets (5-8). Harrell had two kills.

CCHS hosts Demopolis at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Thorsby will compete in the Isabella Invitational on Saturday. Marbury and LAMP will round out the four-team field.
