Mustangs stay unbeaten with tri-match wins

Despite a gritty first-game effort from the host squad, Class 1A No. 7 Isabella added two more wins Tuesday night to its growing resume.
Chilton County High topped Selma, 25-7, 25-18, in the night’s first match.
The Mustangs (5-0) dispatched of Selma (25-9, 25-16) and CCHS (25-20, 25-15).
Tylita Harrell led the Tigers’ effort against Selma with five kills, three aces and two digs. Lauren Stewart added two digs and three aces, and Quantisha Streety had six aces.
Isabella defeated Selma behind the performances of Krysta Tyler (nine assists, five aces and one dig), Carissa Eiland (five kills and three aces) and Amber Wyatt (eight kills). Raelynn Liveoak had three aces and three digs in the match, and Deanna Blozik recorded three kills and two aces.
The first game of the last match was tied as late as 17-17, but Isabella was too much for the Tigers (2-4) in the end. Wyatt (14) and Eiland (7) combined for 21 kills. Tyler assisted on 10 of those kills, and Blozik helped with three.
Liveoak had eight digs, Kimi Jones had six digs and Ruby Fernandez finished with four.
Wyatt also had four blocks, and Eiland also had four aces.
Clarissa Galvan had three digs and two aces in a losing effort. Harrell contributed five kills and two digs.
