The Seventh Annual Batten Disease Golf Tournament is Saturday, Sept. 20 at Lakeview Retreat with tee time starting promptly at 8 a.m.

The format is a two-man scramble at a cost of $100 per team, including two mulligans per player and lunch. Hole sponsorships are available for $50 apiece.

The tournament is coordinated by Becky Lucas of Jemison, whose son Chris has suffered from batten disease most of his life. Batten is a brain deteriorating disease that currently has no cure.

All proceeds from the tournament will go toward the Batten Disease Support and Research Association. For more information about the organization, visit the Web site www.bdsra.org.

“Anyone who has a cart and would like to bring it, please let me know,” Lucas asks. “It will be greatly appreciated.”

There will be a 20-team limit for the tournament. Participants are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before tee time for signup.

Three flights will be awarded, and three places will be recognized in each flight. There will also be longest drive and closest to the pin contests.

Local merchants have donated door prizes that will be given away during the tournament.

Lakeview Retreat is located on Highway 25 in Bibb County. For more information or specific directions, please contact Lucas at (205) 668-0812 or 296-6625, or call Tony Cochran at (334) 366-4018.
