Wallace upsets W.C. Hayes

Incumbent Mayor W.C. Hayes was defeated by current councilmember Kurt Wallace in yesterday’s municipal election in Maplesville.

The final vote tally had Wallace with 91 votes compared to just 84 for Hayes. Only three absentee ballots were cast.

This was the only municipal race that was contested in Maplesville.

John Caudle has qualified for the council’s District 1 seat and was unopposed.

Councilmember Mike Bearden qualified for the District 2 seat on the council and was unopposed.

Councilmember Aubrey Latham qualified for the council’s District 3 seat and was unopposed.

Councilmember Ray Mitchell qualified for the council’s District 4 seat and was unopposed.

Jim Treadgill has qualified for the council’s District 5 seat and was unopposed for the position.

The mayor and council will serve a four-year term that will begin Monday, Nov. 3.
