COLUMBIANA – Authorities in Shelby County say four men are jailed without bond in connection with the slayings of five men who were found in an apartment.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests on Monday. Each suspect was charged with two counts of capital murder.

Arrested were three Birmingham residents, 31-year-old Alejandros Castaneda, 25-year-old Juan Francisco Castaneda and 40-year-old Christopher Scott Jones. Also charged was 22-year-old Jaime Rodriguez of San Antonio.

The five victims were found Wednesday night at an apartment off U.S. 280. Authorities said the men had been bound and their throats were slashed.

Investigators would not reveal the motive.
