A woman went to UAB Hospital after being struck by a car on Seventh Street South in Clanton Thursday morning.

Ella McNeil King, 42, was walking northbound on the side of the road in front of Dari Delite South when a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, also traveling northbound, hit the victim at 7:57 a.m. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

King was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Her condition was not immediately known, but the injuries didn’t appear to be life threatening.

Clanton Patrolman Wade Johnson said there was conflicting information on whether the car left the roadway.

“That road is very congested at that time of the day because everyone is trying to get to work or school,” Johnson said.

The Clanton Police Department is investigating the crash.
