MONTGOMERY – Freshman Sam Collins, a defensive lineman for Huntingdon College, has died following the second practice of the preseason.

Officials said an official cause of death has not been determined.

Montgomery Police Department spokesman Captain Huey Thornton said Collins was pronounced dead about 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The college said he became ill following a morning workout. Thornton said the coaching staff thought he may have had heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
