Wednesday, Aug. 6, the Chilton County Arthritis Walk Committee met at Helen’s Place to finalize their plans for this year’s Arthritis Walk Kickoff celebration.

The committee concluded that the kickoff will be held at First United Methodist Church in Clanton from 11:30 until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

“We are geared up and ready for this year’s walk. This will be my first year to represent Chilton County, and I have already been impressed with the amount of support shown by the community,” said Lisa Hemphill, Regional Director, South Central Alabama with the Arthritis Foundation’s Alabama Chapter.

The participant list from last year was gone over and there have been many new people who have signed up to take part in the kickoff activities for the Arthritis Walk. Every member from last year has invited at least 20 new people, which has turned into quite the invitation list.

“We are more than happy for anyone interested in coming out to the event to join us. There will be refreshments and entertainment for people to enjoy as well as booths to sign up for the Arthritis Walk that will be taking place here in Chilton County and booths with information on arthritis,” Hemphill said.

One of the biggest priorities of the Arthritis Walk is to bring in donated money for the Arthritis Foundation to use in finding a cure for future if not present generations. The walk is also a good chance for people to find out more information about arthritis.

Many of the members have new, up-to-date information on what to do for different forms of arthritis and signs you may want to talk to your doctor about to see if you have any of the existing forms of arthritis.
