The victim of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 22 just east of Maplesville has died.

Jessica Jones passed away yesterday at UAB Hospital. She had been there ever since being flown from the scene of the July 23 accident.

Today, friends will be remembering her at a special ceremony in the parking lot of Maplesville High School at 7 p.m.

Gabrielle Madsen, who is one of the people organizing the remembrance, said this is the first time in a while that Maplesville has lost a teenager.

“We just want to come together and remember her,” Madsen said.

Madsen said they will also be having a carwash today to raise money to help the family cope with the medical bills.
