WASHINGTON – More than 112,000 Alabamians have yet to claim their economic stimulus checks.
Most of them are elderly, disabled people or veterans who don’t have to file an income tax return.
The IRS has identified 5.2 million people nationwide who may be eligible to receive the minimum $300 payment from the government. But they have not done the paperwork necessary to claim it.
The tax agency is sending out a second notice explaining how to file so those people can receive their stimulus money.
