‘So Good’

Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on, is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air; for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin. And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” (Matthew 6:25-30).

Thought for the week: “So Good”

“My God is so good to me. I thank Him every day for blessings that He gives to me all along life’s way. He gives many precious friends who understand and care, and every time I need His help I know He hears my prayer. He knows how often I would fall were He not by my side, so He sends His Holy Spirit to be my constant guide. His love is greater than I know. He’s happy to forgive, and then He wants to help me in obedience to live. My God is very good to me. I hope you know Him too, for all the things He does for me He wants to do for you.”

Worship services at Holly Grove Baptist Church on Sunday began with praise service led by the choir with prayer, scripture, songs and testimonies. Songs sung: “Glory Hallelujah” and “Take Jesus With You Everywhere You Go.” The scripture was read by Perry with prayer by Pastor Dukes. The morning message was given by Pastor Dukes followed by fellowship by the pastor, deacons and the congregation.

Our sympathy goes out to the family of Mr. Joe Richardson in their time of bereavement. Funeral services will be held today at the Cross Road Baptist Church in Verbena. Agee Brother’s Funeral Home is in charged of arrangements.

On our sick list this week we ask you to remember in your prayers: Luther Lee, Linda Clay, Mattie Nix, Joseph McCall, Queen Worthey and Sam and Vivian Hicks. May God heal, strengthen and keep them in His care is our prayer.
