Chilton County Sheriff’s investigators and deputies from the Special Operations Unit arrested one mane for multiple burglaries happening over several months in the county.

Tommy Dewayne Knight, 34, of Verbena, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree theft of property.

On Sunday, the officers executed felony arrest warrants and search warrants at a residence on County Road 494 in Cooper. The warrants were issued to investigate a burglary that happened earlier in the day in Clanton.

After the deputies collected evidence from the scene, Knight was identified as a suspect this burglary as well as others burglaries that were committed over a month ago.

At the time he was arrested, Knight was out on bond for an unrelated case. He is now being held in the Chilton County Jail without bond.

“Knight has been listed as a suspect in several prior burglary/ thefts and we are checking all those cases against what we found,” Sheriff Kevin Davis said. “For anyone who has been a victim, and has reason to believe he could be a suspect, please call the Investigative Division at (205) 755-1053. We have some evidence to go on, but if we can narrow the cases down we can move a lot faster.”
