Someone doubts Tebow?
Published Friday, July 17, 2009
The Southeastern Conference coaches Thursday released their all-conference team (and second team and third team, which is getting kind of ridiculous). As always, there were selections that could be questioned and some that just leave you scratching your head.
The biggest surprise? Florida quarterback Tim Tebow--the same Tim Tebow that has won a Heisman trophy, two national championships that could become three this season, and that some are calling the best college football player ever--was not a unanimous selection as the first-team quarterback.
The choices aren't made public and coaches couldn't vote for their own players. So, some coach besides Florida's Urban Meyer and Ole Miss' Houston Nutt (Jevan Snead was the second-team QB and surely received the first-team vote that didn't go to Tebow) thinks there's a better quarterback in the conference than Tebow. Who could it be?

Dang, how many years is Tebow gonna play with Florida?
Did someone screw up and let Paul Finebaum vote?
"was not a unanimous selection as the first-team quarterback."..........Someone evidently is new to coaching in the SEC, or maybe to college football in the United States!!
More like wishful thinking I suspect.
Tebow is definitely not the "best" quarterback...but he's a great leader and that makes a difference.
Right now, in the SEC, pre-season, Tebow is the best and by far the most proven quarterback in the SEC. In fact, can't even think of anyone that comes close. When compared to, say, Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford, Tebow is like a mac truck next to their Lexus SUV's - which is better is really a matter of whether you expect pure power or absolute finesse - both seem to get results at the college level. If this skill set can prosper in the NFL, that's certainly the big Tebow debate.
I don't put much stock in that yahoo Paul Finebaum but I think his claim that Meyer is off to Notre Dame next year says a great deal about just how elite Florida has become. Finebaum clearly fears the fact that Meyer and Florida, with or without Tim Tebow, will dominate the conference and stand in the way of Nick Saban's march toward Bear-like greatness (which Finabaum has predicted often). He and Tebow have already stood in the way once and are likely to be there again come December. Add to this a nagging and persistent thought that the SEC West in on the verge of becoming the most intense conference division in the nation and you know the desperation to get to that elusive BCS title game has got to be driving old baldy nuts.
I watch Florida games just to watch him :-o Drives my hubby nuts, but I really like it when they show him without the jersey and pads on!
