No matter which side wins, there's gonna be problems.

I am so proud that the Jemison and Clanton schools are going to benefit from the Distance Learning systems! Their teachers are so dedicated, selfless, dedicated and giving enough to go the extra mile to stimulate learning in their schools!

Unfortunately, many in the United States have become complacent. I don't believe it's so much "forgotten" as it is "faded" in memory. I distinctly remember every specific detail of that morning, and have no doubt that most other people, adults anyway, remember it as well. The problem to me is that the national media, in one more effort to stand politically correct, didn't want us to remember just how horrible that day was for us. I think they should play every available video, no matter how horrible, all day on every September 11 as well as showing them throughout the year. I don't believe that the United States has fewer enemies willing to do the same thing or worse, and when we let our guard down and weaken our military, we may as well invite our enemies to hurt us again! We should not forget, but many of us are at the very least ignoring the occasion.
On Today’s question: Do you think America has forgotten 9-11?

Regarding the high number of accidents - how often do you see driver's license checks? How often do you see the cops with a teen driver stopped for speeding? I've lived here for several years now and rarely see a cop in Thorsby or Clanton stop anyone. You'd think these places are filled with model drivers! I worry about the children in my own neighborhood which is filled with numerous opportunities for an accident. Speeding teen drivers and unfenced pools are two examples.

Here is a very late post to this debate. I wish I'd seen it sooner. I believe in free speech but not in trampling over others' rights to obtain it. It is shameful that our children are taught only what is viewed as politically correct - and who makes that determination? - while huge gaps are left in their basic education. I am underwhelmed with the standards of our schools, leaving many of our country's children woefully unprepared for higher education, or for the workforce. In the meantime, we are already "subjects" to an ever-increasing government. While online, all of you should do a search on Thomas Jefferson and read some of his quotes, there are especially relevant ones that are not that well-known. Jefferson addressed many of the issues that trouble our country today, not the least of which is TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT, as well as making commentary on our very slanted media. Here's the URL to one "quotes" pages. Hope you'll read up on how our forefathers wanted this country to be, as opposed to what it has become. http://www.quotationspage.com/
