This is the first time in 3 years I've missed this event due to it not falling on a Saturday. I don't understand why this is not a more celebrated holiday. I wish we had a Veteran's Day parade in Clanton even more so than a Peach parade.

Interesting perspective, Mr. Laws. I too, am a staunch proponent of the 2nd Amendment. "Whenever seconds count, the police are only minutes away." However, courthouse security should hold different merit because of the sensitivity of the courtroom and the heightened threats that are posed. I wouldnt want a guy who's about to lose everything bringing a .357 into a custody hearing? With that thought in mind, today is when my own concealed carry permit expires. I'll be stopping by to pay that $20 fee for exercising the 2nd Amendment.

First off, I am not against an occassional drink..............but I think the reference to alcohol sales revenue to help the schools is pretty pathetic. Linking the tax benefits from the sale of alcohol to "the children" is a low blow. I don't understand why there is such a fixation with alcohol that would initiate such a passionate demand. I just envision a bunch of shakey-handed, wide-eyed booze hags that have nothing better to do with their time.

All this talk about "CONVENIENCE".......................but they don't take debit cards, the lines are outrageous, and they aren't open before I go to work and are closed when I get off from work. I would say they have "bankers" hours but the banks are open longer!

Southernpride, to add to your arguement, the Washington DC school system spends the most per student but has the among the lowest standardized test scores in the nation. Maximum input, minimum benefit.

Money is not a cure-all for everything. Lower taxes are certainly an incentive for living in the South.

Graves, you speak so much about the "Republican" lies and the "religeous RIGHT", I'm sure you also had a problem with Bill Clinton subverting the 1996 presidential election by accepting campaign funds from overseas, he and Congress raising taxes, involving us in Haiti and Somolia, Janet Reno obstructing justice in the campaign finance investigation and Chinese espionage. Oh, and did I mention Waco and Elian Gonzalez? And I almost forgot about Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders suggesting masturbation as an alternative to teens having sex. Both parties have their albatross', some people like to march in lock step with their party and seem to have short-term memory loss on some negative aspects.

Rickey, he may be referring to the country that is firing the management of PRIVATE companies, diminishing the First Amendment, and plunging us into abject financial peril (a.k.a. stimulus).

I'm still unusure of what specific "injustices" the meeting addressed. Judges make mistakes every day because both sides, plantiff and defendent, stretch truths to serve their own interests. Judges make decisions based on the evidence presented, even if it may be misleading. Again, what specific injustices have been made and have the appropriate legal channels been followed to protest?

I met Michael through the comments on the CA and found out we lived on the same road. I stopped by his home to shake hands and just to meet the face and neighbor behind the correspondence we shared via this forum. I knew he was sick and I had intentions of stopping by again ,but regretfully, as many of us do, got too busy with one thing or another. I will miss your witty commentary, DUDE!
