Wait a minute. I just read the comment that Bush underfunded and understaffed this war, when the whole time all I heard was how much money was being spent on the war and how many men and women were bing sent to the war. It can't be both ways. It can't be one way while he was in office and another when he gets out. If this is true then it means that there were lies being spread about how many billions of dollars were being spent and how many thousands of soldiers were being sent that didn't need to be there. I didn't agree with everything that Pres. Bush did and I'm sure I wont agree with everything Pres. Obama does. This is a job I would not wish on anyone. But there is no need to twist things around and make them sound better or worse, whatever the case may be, just to fit what you are saying at the time.

Ha/Ha I'll have to remember that. Boondoggle..... an unnecessary or wasteful activity. Nov seems like you hit the nail on the head

Are you kidding? I've seen them go for more than $1850 before. You must know the Peach week is a big time in Clanton. I guess it's the only time that the people really get together and have a good time as a community. Congratulations to all the farmers, everywhere.

A swimmie is the same as a floatee. You put it on your small children's arm so that they wont go under the water. Lots of fun times there. If I read it correctly the article stated that APCO is already going to put a peir in the swimming area so I guess the commission doesn't have anything to say about it. Is this right? I've read the article several times and that one sentence seems to keep sticking out in my mind.

When is the next commision meeting? You should all flood the meeting and let them know how you feel. It wouldn't be the first time that this has happened. If you feel strongly about this let them know. It is the only way they will know how the people think. Contact each one of them personally, tell them your opinions. If you see them on the street, tell them. It's what they get paid for, if they didn't want to listen to people's opinion they should not have run for office.

I agree with Renee about the rights issue. Kids have been swimming at Higgins Ferry since way before I did. I remember when part of the old ferry was there and we used it to jump off of. (not head first of course) There have always been discussions about whether to close it or not. Let the kids and their parents have some fun. I'm sure their were signs, way back then, but I don't remember seeing them. We just knew not to go where the boats were.

Except for the fact that Tim Tebow did get his academics from one school and sports from another in high school. But I guess that's absurb too. It all depends on how you look at it and who's side your on as to how absurb it is for high school students.

LOL!!! We have a saying around our house. "The wind blows the wrong way and the price of gas goes up" so I agree.

O.K. here it goes. I am a homeschool mom, it's lunch time by the way. I'm not skipping out on my teaching duties to be on the computer. My oldest son would love to play sports, I personally would not like for him to. But if he's given the opportunity to play at an area high school I would certainly not deprive him of it. I could go on and say I pay taxes just like you, but I did choose to HS my children. I consider it a privledge, one that I never dreamed that I would be doing. I certainly did not plan on HSing, it was never in my agenda. Never once have I thought I had deprived my children from anything that public school has to offer.
I do not consider my children to be better than others nor do I think they should be sheltered from the world. I believe by HSing them I am giving them opportunities they would not recieve in public school and sports has never been something I thought they were missing out on. I am not an unschooled redneck who thought she could do better than the public school system. Believe me when I say I am still learning while I am teaching my children. School books have really changed since I was in school or maybe I just pay attention more since my children's education is at stake. Either way, whatever the outcome it will not change how I feel or how you feel. If you are against HSers playing in public school's extra curricular activities you will be even if it passes. I personally think this is a long way down the road. There are too many committees for it to pass through. But in case I haven't made myself clear I am for it. If it means that some child will get the opportunity to fulfill their dream, even if it's to say, "Hey, I tried that and I really didn't like it." or, "I tried it and I just really stunk." either way they would know where they stood. Why should my child, or anyone who HSs, be deprived because their parents felt led to teach them at home? Like someone said before the number to even try would be small. I'm sure there are other Tim Tebows out there just waiting for the opportunity to show what they have. All I'm saying is give them a chance.

I worked with the census in 2000, I made more in 6 months than I did in my regular job for a whole year. The pay is great and the hours aren't so bad.
