These people have a hard job and I sure wouldn't want to sit in those seats so I respect the fact that they are looking out for the interests of Thorsby on a volunteer basis. I don't agree with all these ordinances either but that's why they make variances and at least they are holding public meetings to get input from the citizens before they pass these ordinances.

Here's my opinion of it and this is NOT fact only my opinion. Clanton has money the other towns don't. In every county seems like you have one school that is always above the rest in our case it's Clanton's.
The ONLY way a gym should be added is IF all the leaky roofs were fixed, fire alarms were fixed OR if the parents raised the money to build the gym like Thorsby and surrounding areas did when they built the Hunt Memorial Gym. Thorsby doesn't have lights for their baseball teams either all games have to be played at home during the daylight hours. However lights are not more important than books either but just an example.
I would like to know how these decisions are made and wouldn't it be better to have a board member from each school district? I'm from Thorsby but I could be objective if Verbena's school was falling in around them and Thorsby needed a gym. I believe I'd prioritize.
But hey can't complain just campaign and run for office, maybe these folks are doing the best they can with what they have, i don't know I'm only speculating.

WHAT THE HECK? IS the board forgetting Jemison needs repairs, THORSBY needs a NEW school, Verbena needs help, Isabella needs help. Why are we investing more in Clanton right now?
The students at Clanton are very important and deserve only the best but the other students from smaller schools are EQUALLY important. Will someone explain to me how these decisions are reached in which school to invest in and which not to invest in? Maybe there is a logical explaination someone enlighten me please. A gym is not more important than a school building.

QUOTE FROM JEMISON ARTICLE:

Ron Jewell -
If I have offended you in any way, then I owe it to you and to myself to apologize ... and to do so sincerely. And I make that sincere apology now. Understandably, you are not obligated to accept any apology whatsoever, but I would like for you to do so, and I owe it myself to offer it ... and move on with life!.
Rickey, I'm confused you said no apology would be issued are you talking about someone else or am I reading this wrong? Because the apology was posted BEFORE your last statement on this article. Not trying to stir the pot but I was admiring the fact that you apologized and I just want to know if it was sincere.
NOW back to the article....Even if you can't do 100.00 every little bit helps, we all have spare change that sometime collects in a jar for a rainy day. But that spare change to others makes a difference. People really are starving here, I once seen an old man going through the packs at McDonald's eating the ketchup and just as they were about to run him off I bought him a hamburger, he ate it like he had not eaten in days. It was a reality check for me, it's sad and it's all around us. God Bless this charity, i'll do my part.

Good Job Rebels, we are so proud of you Hang in there and keep your heads up.
I'm Not taking away from the varsity's thunder but would someone please tell me why week after week Thorsby is mentioned losing or something yet they have a JV team winning every week that is never mentioned.
Actually NONE of the JV teams county wide are mentioned very often. I'd like to see the sports section not ONLY cover varsity, how about some JV, or better yet how about some little league! You've got two papers now, the kids would love it!
Just my 2 cents for the day.
On Congrats to Thorsby team that kept fighting during 17-game losing streak

Just a little FYI.... If you buy office supplies at office depot then you can donate 5% of every purchase back to the school system, it really racks up. You have to have the school number which you can get by calling any office depot.
It works and every little bit helps then i think teachers get to buy on that credit. I hope the schools are taking advantage of this for their supplies.

I wish the Clanton Parade was like it use to be with a lot less restrictions. People don't put as many floats in the parade because of the 10 page application (well maybe it's not 10 pages but it's too LONG). That is why some I know do not enter their floats any longer. I understand a waiver form but the rest of it is a little over the top. That's just my 2 cents.
On Christmas parade set for Dec. 4
