Baby Georgia -
I am so very sorry that you couldn't stay with us. God needed you and He brought you home! Thank you for making your presence here on Earth!

Having recently returned from a visit to my native Chilton, I can report that it is a peaceful place that holds near and dear to my heart. It ain't too big like B'ham to the north and it ain't too crowded like Montgomery to the south ... Chilton is just right! Good Lord, I'm starting to sound like Goldie Locks and the Three Bears, ain't I? Chilton is fine just the way she is; and her greatest asset is her people .... some of the nicest people on earth live right there in Chilton County!

My personal hope is that the attitude continues to change toward the positive. It is shocking how often ... too often ... the running of the everyday household is overlooked as a "job" ... and yet, it is the most IMPORTANT job out there. Without the structure of the household, the rest of it would be all down the toilet... just my opinion!

And for those of you who are studying as well as keeping the household afloat .... hang in there! Your studies will reward you. I know it ain't easy ... but I have faith in YOU!

Much, much success to all if you!

kwsgraves and November didn't invite me to breakfast :(
They like to pick on me but am I not worth two biscuits layered with sausage patties covered with gravy; a scrambled egg, a bowl of grits, a small serving of assorted fruit, a dab of cottage cheese and a mimosa (or two)? Never mind; I see their point. This ain't a meal ... it's GROCERIES ;)

Just so you know, and so that you will forever know, I have absolutely nothing to do with comments that get deleated from this page. I've even gotten deleated once myself, and I've concluded that if we hang out here long enough, getting deleated is inevitable. I don't think it is so much as truth that dictates whose message gets deleated; it has more to do with tact and common respect. And again, just so you will know, and just so you will ALWAYS know, I do not have a need to make veiled threats ... I don't make threats! I have an opinion and simple because it differs from yours, does not qualify as a "threat" ... at least in the eyes of the law. You, on the other hand, are free to interprete it any way you want. I DON'T CARE!

You make an excellent point, and thank you for educating me. I was thinking the danger involved as being between an oncoming train verses an automobile. It never occured to me that the danger could very well be between two vehicles approaching at the same time from opposite directions. On a recent visit to my native Chilton, I did notice that many of thge rr crossing lanes seemed rather narrow and they all seemed to be on an incline. So your point is well taken and enlightening :)

makes an excellent point (several excellent points, actually) and I could not have said it better myself! The crossings have been here for years; trains have been coming down that same track for years; and suddenly we're suppose to entertain the idea as to whether to close'em or not because somebody hasn't quiet figured out that You Can't Out Run A Train! A train will NEVER hit you on the freeway; a train will NEVER hit you in the fast lane; a train will NEVER hit you on the off ramp; a train will NEVER hit you on a two-lane highway nor a one-lane dirt road . There is only ONE way that a train will ever hit you ...

Crossbars and lights will be a nice addition. It is hard to believe that we need such in order to remind motorists "if you see a train coming" or "you hear a train coming" it's probably in your best interest to STOP; wait a few minutes; and then be on your merry way to where ever it is you're in such a hurry to get to. (Yikes! I know better than to end a sentence with a preposition. Graves will get me for this one; I already feel it coming).
Earlier this year, my cousin's wife was killed at a Throsby railroad crossing ... all because she tried to beat that train! As sad as it is, I can't blame the town of Thorsby nor the railroad company nor the road crossings. My relative (in-law) took a gamble ... and unfortunately, she lost.

Gore's columns frequently sound more like an infomercial peddeling a particular product, rather than a legitimate journalistic piece. Either way, our country is the Ukraine NOT the Ukrane!

Jason -
You will be greatly missed, my good cousin. But I know that our paths will cross again one day. Thank you for being a wonderful person and thank you for being a part of my life!
Rest; think kindly of me; and when it is my turn ... reach out and lift me up to where you are.
We love you, Jason.
