Well let's see... Even if $25 did deter someone, who is going to enforce it. Hank Erwin and the good ole political machine can't even get the law enforced agains putting political campaign signs on the highway right of ways. Isn't that odd, that they can't take care of old problems and enforce the laws already long again written that just happen to pertain to them? What a joke!!! Only it is not funny. Alabama Attorney General told them all AGAIN 7 years ago thtat it was definately illegal. But nobody from Bob Riley to Kevin Davis claims to have a clue about enforcement. I just wish they would enforce the laws on the books and quite writing new ones that sound good for getting a few votes. Anybody got anything again somebody in political office stepping up and enforcing the political campaingn signs law. Hank Erwin sure aint going to touch it. http://www.ago.alabama.gov/opinions//200...

By the way, most people do not have home owners insurance that would cover any damage caused by an earthquake, but you can add it for very little cost. Most people shop on price, so it is not part of standard package. I added it years ago.

"I go to the range" I didn't know we had a range to go to. Where is it? Hours, Cost, etc. Thanks.

I thought according to my pistol permit that I already was not allowed to carry at any public gathering (including, but is not limited to, athletic or sporting events, churches or church functions, political rallies and/or functions, publicly owned or operated buildings), schools, courthouses, etc. Am I wrong. It's been a while since I read up on making sure I abided by the restrictions on a carry permit, so could someone that knows they chapter and verse one way or the other please quote the Alabama and or federal law that might pertain to such places. For example with all the nuts doing things to churches I feel the need to have a concealed carry at my church service, but didn't think I could legally, can I? Ditto for school football games where there seems to always be a few hoodlums intent upon hurting someone for no reason, but I didn't think I legally could, can I?
On Tebow Act among bills Erwin will reintroduce to Legislature

DTV signals aren't up to full strength or on their final frequencies. I don't know if the locals that switch Tuesday will be on their new and final frequency or not. If so, you'll need to re-scan for the DTV and if those that changed were allowed to go to final frequency and full power, then you'll get a better signal but at a different place, thus the need for the re-scan. Those channels that are above 13 in their final frequency will come in better. For Chilton County there is only 1 degree of separation between the Bham stations so you should be able to pick them all up without a antennae movement. Go to antennaweb.org and you will see that 6, 10, 13, 21, 42 & 68 are within a degree of each other so one point will get them all, but the ABC33/40 tower is in Anniston, 35 degrees apart from the others and 10 air miles further, so there are going to be hard to get and a repoint to receive. A good station that is probably going to be lost to most. I got out my mom's old rabbit ears right after first of year just to see if I could pick up anything at all on a small kitchen DTV we had got to replace our 30 year old (still good, but too much clutter with a converter box) and to my surprise the cheapo junko rabbit ears pulled in every DTV station but 33/40. I am about 20 miles closer, near Shelby County line, but I think a correct antenna would bring in the B'ham stations just great in Clanton. There is no such thing as a Digital TV Antenna so don't get double talked on that. If you have a good Antenna now then that is all you need. Most of the DTV frequencies will be in the UHF range, but several are in the VHF range, so there you go, nothing special, just need any brand name quality. Also, the shorter you can make your coax run the better and yes you will need an amplifier for those cloudy/stormy days to keep the signal strength up, but it is worth it as the picture over antenna is twice as good as the picture over cable or dish and if you drop your locals from your dish, you soon pay for the very best antenna set up with the very best picture that you will love. Too bad the Beards, Rays, Carters aren't around anymore to trust on explanation of antenna for DTV, but you can probably find a local store that has an old pro with real common sense. A Winegard HD 7084P or equal with appropriate amp for your run length of coax and number of TVs you have connected will bring you a Mona Lisa picture you will love if your current set up doesn't do it for you. I think Radio Shack has them, not sure about the savy. Handi probably has an equal. You know the locals. In this case I would say don't go to Wally World unless you technically know exactly what you want and they have it. IMO

I doubt that very seriously. Competent people have worked that cemetery for years and years. All the outfit you recommend would do is cost the city money and angry the honest folk that have family and plots there. All the city is asking for is folks to come forward and identify any plots they have at Pine Hill and any unmarked grave they are aware of. The city's request and plan is the best way to accomplish everything. The city is not looking for information recorded in fact, they are looking for pertinent information that is not recorded in fact.

Does anybody actually currently know where the Brantley family cemetery is located out from Jemison? It does not appear to be located where the directions were written in the CCHS Cemetery Book. Henry T. Brantley 1815-1898 and other Brantley family members are buried there. I can't find it by any known given directions. If someone can physically lay eyes on it and advise it would be appreciated.

Best check with whoever you are considering for your satellite dsl service. You can't do Vonage or similar services on satellite dsl because of the latency and speed. Satellite dsl is a shared bandwidth service and the fine print will say something like "no speed guaranteed" which translates to if you think you are buying 1.0M download, you'll need to be up at 3:00 to come close to getting that speed and then it will need to be clear skies. During peak times expect your shared bandwidth to drop your speed down to about 1/4 to 1/3 of what you think you are buying. But that is a download/upload problem. The real biggie with trying to use Vonage and the like over satellite is that you have a lag time latency delay that makes it unusable for that purpose. In other words, with satellite dsl, you make a call for a web site with the www call up. The call up is transmitted by a 1 or 2 watt radio up to the satellite about 36,000 miles away, then is rebroadcast back down to an earth station receiver another 36,0000 miles away, where the site look up call goes out over a land line. The site is located and process is reversed for another 72,000 mile trip up and back down. The delay is similar to what you hear when NASA talks to the astronauts, only doubled. You see this would drive you nuts in a hurry. Also, this latency delay effect makes typical web pages load as slow as dial up. The only place you will notice true speed increases is when you are making large downloads, such as when some friend emails you some pictures and they are a couple of meg in size. Dial up would take half a day if you could stay connected and the satellite will do it in 20-90 seconds. Ditto being great for Windows and program updates that are just too large for dialup, but work lickity split downloading by satellite. Be sure you read the fine print and know what to expect before ordering satellite service. I had it for until dsl finally came by after requesting it for 15+ years. It served my purpose much better than dial up, but I used it for work purposes quite a bit. If you are in a served area, www.tridigitalbroadband.com would serve you much better in everyway over satellite in my opinion. I have no affiliation with tridigital or any other broadband provider. Just trying to pass on my experience and opinion hoping it might be helpful in your decision making.
