Was this issue so complicated and confusing that no other business was conducted at the Commission meeting?
and they get paid to do what? argue among themselves, and table nearly every decision? why do we continue to accept this poor management of our tax dollars and continue to vote the same people or same type of people in year after year?

There a lot of other businesses that have pets. I enjoyed the story and would like to see more like this.

Blocker devices have been ruled illegal by the FCC according to internet reports referencing movie theater use, and Iowa schools.

IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. We are not living in the same times as 20 or 30 years ago. Crimes happen all around and within the schools, registered sex offenders live within miles, bad weather is frequent around here, often both parents work out of town, many children come from single parent homes, we dont have extended family and neighbor support like we use to.
Simple solution: allow them in the lockers turned off. Deal with violations according to a county wide REASONABLE policy.

This policy is extreme. Students who attend after school activities need access to their cell phones. Activites often run over the time scheduled or occasionally end early.
Although I do see the need for a policy to prevent interference in class time, I do not believe it is necessary to leave cell phones at home. Students who drive have the option of leaving them in their vehicles but the students who do not drive and are most likely to need access to a cell phone, do not have an option.
This type policy encourages our children to find ways not to get caught with the cell phone and inevitably sets some of them up for failure. We try to teach our children to follow the rules and live a moral life only to be undermined by the system. This policy is harsh and unnecessarily inconvenient.
A better policy would be to only allow them in lockers and turned off. Should that policy be violated deal with it on case by case basis rather than the one size fits all communistic approach we seem to accept more of on a daily basis.

Kitty you are more than likely 100% right about the commissioners inability to use the computer. I have personally heard more than one of them say they do not even read the paper, which is something I believe they would take the time to do if they truly cared about the people of this county they are representing.

It is great that Sheriff Davis has taken the time to read these posts and respond to clear up questions. This shows qualities of a strong leader. We want transparency in government.
The county commissioners should take a lesson from Sheriff Davis, listen to the people you represent and who pay your salary, answer their questions. This will help eliminate some speculation and hopefully set the record straight on some issues.

This would make an excellent story for you to do some good old fashioned research and report just how times the Commission has gone into executive session in the last year or two and on what grounds. Of course in doing so you may not be made to feel very welcome and find yourself looking for another job. I would like to see this ridiculous practice of calling an unnecessary executive session stopped. At the very least they should reserve these for the end of the meeting so as to not waste the working peoples time when they have a need to attend these meetings. Transparency in government is in the best interest of the people however it can be detrimental to the the politicians good standing with the public, hence they prefer the smoke and mirrors.

I am personally against wearing uniforms, unless it is for personal protection or necessary recognition in your line of work. I could be persuaded that it is best for students if I saw some concrete proof in the way of school records showing a reduction in disciplinary actions and an increase in grades and test scores. Until then my opinion is leaning slightly more to the Socialist duck theory.............
On Two more schools will add uniforms
